It’s the second day of Feb so I’m already a little late on this one (February is already racing ahead in speed compared to January, isn’t it?). January was a bit of a weird one for me, for a few reasons.
I jumped on the Veganuary bandwagon last minute and managed really well, except for one slip up with a coffee with milk (I just plain forgot!). But a good friend organised a cheese fondue party for her 30th birthday, and I couldn’t say no! So I managed 27 days being vegan, and then got stuck into a huge pot of melted cheese. And uh… no regrets, honestly.
And in other large news of January, I also had the realisation that the boyfriend I’ve had since practically moving to Berlin clearly didn’t value our relationship as much as I did (can you hear how bitter I am? Whatever), so I am, for almost the first time, a single lady in Berlin. It’s not so scary – I spent most of 2 years in London single. But I think Berlin is not quite a city for dating; a lot of people are here for a good time, not a long time, and aren’t necessarily interested in being serious (as I have learned!). So February (and the rest of 2018) is a year for focusing on myself, not someone else.
Here are my loose and liberal goals for February, 2018.
Read more books
I managed really well in January to read a bunch of books (here’s my January wrap up) and I want to continue the roll into February. I’ve got a bunch of beaut books reserved with my library. Here’s the start of my TBR for February:
- Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
- Hag-Seed by Margaret Atwood
- Turtles All the Way Down by John Green
- Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
More dates with girlfriends
Single life is a good opportunity to make more of an effort with girl friends, and get out and enjoy Berlin as the weather starts to warm up. I’m thinking wine nights, coffee dates, days spent exploring bookstores, and writing dates in cute tea shops.
Writing & blogging goals
- Upload chapters of my novel(s) every week!
- Write and upload blog post(s) every week!
My next big trip is to Australia, hooray! I’m finally visiting after what will have been 3 years away from home. While in Aus I’ll just be staying in Brisbane, and perhaps doing some trips around the coast, but nothing too far. I’ll mainly be hanging out with friends and family. But once I get back, summer will be on its way in Europe, and I would love to have a few trips lined up.
Here are my (admittedly ambitious, considering I’ve already used 13 days holiday on an Aus trip) travel goals for the year:
Let me know if you have any recommendations for these places!
This month I’ll be finishing A2.1 German classes. Afterwards I’ll need to take a little break from classes because I’ll be away for 3 weeks travelling to Australia. And then it’ll be summer, and I probably won’t want to spend my evenings in school… but oh well, at least this month I’ll complete A2.1!
So there are my goals for February. What are your goals for the month? Let me know!
