June Goals.

Been a little absent on this blog lately as I’ve been swept up in work, writing, life, etc.. but hello again. Thought I might get back into the swing of bloggin’ with a goals list (the first of which, naturally, is to Blog More). Since just about my last update I’ve moved into a new and busier role at work, moved into a beautiful new flat, and generally just had a lot on my plate. I’ve been neglecting blog writing and reading in favour of writing loads, yoga and meditation, which has been an interesting new foray. So, let’s see what’s on the agenda this month…

Writing goals

Oh yeah! Write a blog post! Tick.

I’d be absolutely chuffed to get back into the habit of at least a couple of blog posts a month. I find writing about my goals, reading lists and travels is fun and also something that Future Me will be very thankful for (isn’t it so cosy to go back and read old diaries?), so let’s see if I carve some time.

However my main/prioritised writing goals will always be my actual writing. At the moment I’m editing my YA Fantasy novel, Starrlings, and uploading it to Wattpad as I write.

Reading goals

Reader, I have fallen soooo behind in my reading list… it’s abysmal. I’m months deep into a reading slump… and trying to get out of it right now feels like trying to get out of quick sand. Here are the books that I’ve currently STARTED and not FINISHED:

Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta (reread)

Lady Smoke by Laura Sebastian

Royal Assassin by Robin Hobb

A Game of Thrones by George RR Martin (reread)

Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel

HELP! I can’t seem to finish anything, and I get distracted and then disheartened. I think it doesn’t help that I’m trying to tackle a huge fantasy by Robin Hobb, and then reread GoT (since the show ended) and they’re both huge beasts of a book.

I’m rereading Melina Marchetta’s Saving Francesca so that I can reread The Piper’s Son and finally read her new novel, The Place on Dalhousie, because Marchetta is my favourite author in the world and I can’t wait to read her new story. Hopefully I can finish that soon to give me that little boost I’ll need to get out of my slump. Wish me luck.

Travel goals

This month I’m heading to the UK for Glastonbury 2019, so that’s all my travel time (and money) gone! I’ll also spend some time in London visiting lots of my London friends, so I’m looking forward to that.

What are your goals for the month?
