Berlin in Autumn: a photo diary.

It’s been a super long time since I wrote a blog post because I’ve been bogged down attempting (and subsequently failing) NaNoWriMo. So no more excuses, I thought I’d throw together my favourite autumny snaps to look back on from this autumn in Berlin. This post is just a big old photo diary. If you […]

How to get a table at Oktoberfest in Munich.

Oktoberfest is one of the most fun things I’ve done in Europe. You dress up, drink loads of beer, stand on your seats and arm-in-arm to sing cheesy tunes like Teenage Dirtbag, Mr Brightside, Country Road, meet people from all over the world, chant and cheers and Prost! Oktoberfest manages to be both wholesome and […]

There’s been a lot of rainy days and storms. While I’m hoping for a pretty amazing late summer, I thought I’d […]

A fairytale castle in Germany.

Ever wanted to see the Disney castle in real life? This is it. In winter of 2015 we visited Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, Germany. It’s the real life inspiration for the Disney princess castle. And although it looks pretty ancient, it’s actually only a couple of hundred years old.

Learning German in Berlin

I moved to Berlin in April 2017, and I didn’t know any German except for how to say hello, please and thank you. I initially planned to do an intensive course for a month, three hours a day for four nights a week. But then I realised that I was moving to Berlin at the start of summer, and I didn’t want to spend four nights a week in a classroom (on top of working full-time), when I could be out enjoying everything that Berlin has to offer in the long summer evenings.

Going to the Ausländerbehörde in Berlin (without an appointment).

If you’re moving to Germany (specifically Berlin) for work or study, and you’re planning to get a visa while you’re in Berlin, you’ll need to go to the Foreigners Office (Ausländerbehörde) to get your visa. It’s possible to go without an appointment (as I did) however it will require camping out overnight. I’ll explain in […]
