Looking for some alternative things to do in Copenhagen once you’ve crossed off Nyhavn and the Little Mermaid? Because my parents are living in Copenhagen right now I’ve visited them a couple of times. Copenhagen has turned into my new favourite city, and I wanted to check out some of the alternative things to do in Copenhagen while I was there this weekend. Plus (as always) I’m on the hunt for Instagrammable spots in Copenhagen and whenever I go travelling.

Cycling along the coast of Denmark

This weekend we cycled from central Copenhagen north along the coast towards the beach at Charlottenlund and then the deer reserve and Eremitage Hunting Lodge. Once we were outside of the centre of town there were no tourists around. We cycled along Strandvejen and Kystvejen to Bellevue Strandbad, about 13km from central Copenhagen, where there was a pretty beach.

Then we cycled inland to Jaegersborg Dyrehave – the deer reserve. We passed an old amusement park with a huge wooden roller coaster, then cycled up into the forest to find the deer. At first we spotted a few little deer families by themselves, including a white deer.

Then we spotted a whole herd on the move. We followed the herd out into the plain, where we found the Eremitage Hunting Lodge.

The clouds  in this picture look pretty threatening but luckily it didn’t rain at all and stayed sunny for our cycle back into Copenhagen.
